Jus' call me Flounder
I've just impressed me. I've swum (front crawl and breast stroke) the equivalent of a kilometre in lengths. Not bad for someone who couldn't swim in February this year. I've also run (with bouts of walking) about 3 and 1/2 miles with a 20litre ruksack packed to the gills on my back. I've done some weight training and I've biked for about 15 miles. All of this in 3 hours.
I guess you could say I'm a little beat right now. But the cool thing is, I could keep going! Yeah I could! And that's the coolest thing. I think I may just be ready to take Challenger on and be able to complete it and still be able-bodied!
You know, a couple of months ago, I was all about the whole extreme sports endurance thing. I'm not now. I just want to either do something totally relaxing like canoeing (how much do I loooooooooove canoeing already!) or take up something short but intense like kickboxing or boxercise. Because endurance adventure races.... man they hurt! I'm still weak though. I still can't do a full push up only those stupid girly ones. I'm still really slow going up a hill - I HATE HILLS! I still can't figure out the whole bike-gear ratio thing and nearly drive into cars/ trucks/ vans/ younameit... Dammit for having been brought up on the flat!
My posts are going to be fairly eccentric and disjointed (well, more so than usual!) for the next few because CHALLENGER IS HERE IN ONLY 3 WEEKS!!!!!
If there is anyone out there who reads my blog and you want to contribute (yes, I know I'm shameless *blush*) here's the website that you can go to, to donate. Every single penny goes to the NSPCC which is the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children: www.sponsorshipform.org.uk
Every little helps!
That's the end of that shameless plug!
Great, all that hard work, I'm getting down to doing some serious stuff and I can't keep my eyes open! That's what swimming does to you. Mental note: next time, go swimming AFTER doing important work...
