honestly
Damn! It's been FOREVER since my last blog. That's because I was spending a long time trying not to think about the huge changes in my life. I have two cats. And I have very cat-like behavior. No, I don't drink from a saucer or have catfood sandwiches, but I do like to hide away if there's stuff taht I don't want to confront just yet. Moving jobs was hard. It's a fantastic company and it's an awesome chance to prove my superiority over the rest of mankind (just kidding!) but it meant moving away from my family and only seeing them at weekends. That was hard and instead of dealing with it, I just buried my head and threw myself into my work... and didn't think about it - whilst I stewed over it and became very hissy and growly (figuratively that is).
Then we went away for Christmas and everything - magically - got put right again! I am now back to being a very well adjusted individual who only purrs occasionally. Actually I lie. This week I have been ecstatic and on cloud nine. For the past few months, I have been in training for an endurance event that's taking place in June. It's 4 days and 3 nights of running through woodlands and mountains, navigating and solving puzzles, canoeing, abseiling and all kinds of cool push-you-to-the-limit types of activities for the truly insane. The training was to make the grade to be part of the final chosen team for the event aaaaand... YES! I GOT IN!!!! I was at a company conference and I found out during a coffee break and I was so excited I just started jumping up and down like a pogo stick! I know... I promise, one day I will try to grow up and be all cool and mature but I really do think I'm a lost cause. AND I DON'T CARE!
I now have MUSCLE DEFINITION! But unfortunately, I still have cellulite dammit. One thing at a time though.... I am currently upto 5k in about 30 minutes in the dark (with a head torch). Yes. I am unbelievably slow but say what you want - I'M IN CHALLENGER!
Just need to make sure that I don't OD on the training. I need to build up to 10 miles and I'm going for a run this afternoon through some woodland and then again tomorrow morning. And next week, I'm going swimming in the morning on Monday and running in the evening on Mon/Tues/Thurs. And then there's squad training in the morning on Wednesday for 1.5 hours. You're probably thinking, WOW! She must be really slim. HAH! I wish. I'm still a heifer - the difference is, I'm now a heifer with muscle definition who can breeze through 5k.
And now, I am going to enjoy a lovely coffee with the husband.
Oh and by the way, this IS the year of the book. I can feels it in me bones chucks!
